A second visit to Cork Lifelong Learning Festival

For the second year running I had the pleasure of attending the Cork Lifelong Learning Festival. Because of a previous appointment, I had missed the UNESCO Growing Learning in Cork event and had only the Thursday and the Friday to enjoy the proceedings, being picked up at the airport on a wet and miserable Wednesday night by Willie McAuliffe (Chair of the Festival Organising Committee) after a 14 hour journey.

12th PASCAL International Observatory Conference - Catania - 7-9 October 2015 - Symposia

Several conference attendees have requested symposium sessions in which special interest groups can present their work. If groups are interested in such a session please note this intent when submitting your abstract. It will be possible for you to propose between 3 and 5 separate papers during a period of 1.5 hours in parallel session. This provides an opportunity to showcase the work of your organization as well as organize future work with potential members.

Paris Symposium in honour of Jarl Bengtsson, co-founder and first chair of the PASCAL Board - 9 April Paris

This is a reminder that there will be a Symposium in honour of Jarl Bengtsson which will take place in Paris  on April 9. All PASCAL-ers  who can make it there are welcome (because of limited space please inform Mike Osborne or Hans Schuetze of your intention). A poster and program are featured below and attached.

Latest Issue of Journal of Adult and Continuing Education dedicated to Jarl Bengtsson

The latest Issue of Journal of Adult and Continuing Education edited by guest editor, Hans Schuetze has been dedicated to the work of Jarl Bengtsson.

It contains articles from many of his close colleagues in PASCAL and within the OECD, including Hans himself, Chris Duke, Peter Kearns, Steve Garlick, Catherine Odora Hoppers, Bruce Wilson, Muir Houston and myself.

PASCAL appoints two new Associates

PASCAL is delighted to announce the appointment of Brian Holland and Rob Mark as Associates. 

Urban Big Data PhD Scholarship - School choice and housing markets in urban Scotland

Applications are invited for one of three PhD studentships to commence in October 2015. The studentship is funded by the University of Glasgow and will be based within the Urban Big Data Centre (UBDC). It offers an excellent opportunity for outstanding candidates to join a world-leading interdisciplinary research group.
