PURE Review Visit in Queensland, Australia - December 2011

The latest PURE Review Visit (CDG Review Team Leader Professor Chris Duke) took place between December 5th and 8th in Queensland, Australia. The members of the team were based at Toowoomba and the photograph shows Bruce Wilson (right, with microphone); Chris Duke, Steve Garlick and Pat Inman also took part in the in the review discussions.

Professor Bruce WilsonIn discussing the engagement structures and processes between the University of Southern Queensland and the regional authority (Darling Downs and Southwest Queensland RDA) the team visited a number of locations and met with representatives of Regional Development Australia (Darling Downs and Southwest Queensland Inc), GraniteNet, the Queensland and Local Chambers of Commerce, the Queensland College of Wine Tourism, the Southern Queensland Institute of TAFE (SQIT), the Toowoomba Regional Council Community Development Teams and the Regional Council's RDA Executive and Committee.

The team were also welcomed by the Mayor of Toowoomba and senior Councillors and senior management staff.

As with all PURE Review visits, a great deal of work for the team and a great deal of discussion and material to be analysed and written up for the review report. In the end, of course, the final arbiter of success for the review is the client - in both USQ and the Region. The flexibility of the PURE model means that discussion can continue as long as the client wishes in order to address those issues which the Region feels are of importance.
