The Natural Browsing project and PASCAL - a rather unique collaboration

On the face of it, involvement with the dissemination of a leading-edge computer science project would seem to be outside of PASCAL's remit.  What have "semantic search" and "natural languague processing" got to do with the social sciences? This is exactly the question we asked ourselves when invited by our colleagues from the Puglia Region to get involved in the Natural Browsing project.

New Knowledge Exchange Call in UK

PURE FM

After a very successful conference in Brussels on 19/20 May, we could not have imagined that our Belgian hosts would immediately create a radio station to celebrate the work of PURE, but here is the evidence.

A more serious full report can be found here.

ProfileViewer gives an institutional activity profile that can used to compare three HEIs. U-Map is presented in demo-mode.

PURE Visit to Flanders - Belgium Government resigns

Dear All

Last Thursday. the Belgian cabinet resigned on the second day of the PURE visit to Flanders which has resulted in a fundamental constitutional crisis that threatens the future of the Belgian state. Barry Hake, who led the CDG wishes to point out that the PASCAL team were in no way responsible.

I might add that the University of Glasgow will not be using this event as an example of impact for the next Research Excellence Framework exercise carried out on behalf of the UK government.

Best wishes Mike

The Informed Cities Initiative, Local Governments for Sustainability and the 6th European Sustainable Cities & Towns Conference

This is a European project funded under the Framework Programme 7, which aims to enhance the connectivity between research and policy-making in sustainable development, with a focus on tools for urban management.
