People's Sustainability Treaty on Higher Education
As you will remember, the "Big Tent" group of regional and international networks in community university engagement developed a communique during the Living Knowledge Conference in Bonn, Germany on May 14, 2012. This document was sent to the Rio conference courtesy of Daniella Tilbury and the Copernicus Alliance.
All of the contributions from all of the higher education networks came together in Rio through the Peoples Sustainability Treaty on Higher Education. While the results of the Rio Conference were disappointing to many of us when looking at the commitments made by national governments, progress made by civil society on new formulations and engagements were very important. Below is the statement from Daniella, Clemens and Ingrid on behalf of the Copernicus Alliance.

We would like to thank you for supporting the People’s Sustainability Treaty on Higher Education. The final version of the Treaty is now online together with an updated list of signatories.
The Treaty will remain open for signatories until the 31st August. We would be grateful if you could forward the link through your networks.
We are planning to bring the Treaty’s Editorial Team together virtually this autumn to discuss and develop plans to progress the Treaty and showcase efforts of signatories beyond 2012. We look forward to working together in influencing higher education and supporting change towards sustainability.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any queries about the process of developing and progressing this Treaty.
